Kids Say the Darndest Things

Ariana has a friend over today to play during the snow day. As they sat on the couch, her friend comments, "Ariana, did you know that Bristol Palin had a baby boy?"

Ariana replies "Cool, Governor Palin isn't just a hockey mom, she's now a hockey grandmom."

Kids today are just so much more informed than I was at their age. I definitely did not have conversations about what was going on with Governors or vice presidential candidates.

  1. but i think kids and adults alike are becoming more informed about trivial, uninimportant stuff like palin's grandkid, and less informed about worthwhile information. like how narrow-minded visionaries like palin could conceivably be contemplated as the leader of our country.

how is it that someone her age would know about a fact like this? and why would they care? my sense is that our society indoctrinates us from an early age to care about things that have no relevance or gravity in the realm where someone can actually make a difference in the world.

i'm not bringing this up in a pointed way towards u folks, but it came up when i read this, and i'm just as subject to it as anyone.
